Stop worrying at cliches. No, really, just stop it. Leave it to the editors, dammit.
Not every cliche is bad.
A few cliches can make your work understandable to someone outside your genre.
In fact, people tend to pick up books and click links when they use a cliche.
I learned this from writing fanfic. I do think it resonates across the market.
In fact, stop worrying about being original. At this point you would need to invent an entirely knew language to maintain true and total originality. F that. Just write something fun, and if you can, good. That’s all an audience worth serving really wants anyway.
