I actually saw this documentary a few years ago on BoingBoing, and it terrified me enough that the whole of its content stayed with me. I learned yesterday that the US once used scopolamine, a drug made from jimson weed, as an allergy drug. While it’s now used at a much lower dosage as a pain killer and for unrelated stuff that doesn’t require you to be on it forever, it’s still disturbing to me that it’s out there in any form on the US market – let alone the way the stuff is applied worldwide.
I don’t think it does much good to be scared of the world, but I do think it’s helpful to know what is scary so you can take appropriate precautions. Stuff like this is why I never let a stranger buy me a drink at a bar.
