The ancestors: a vignette

Connecting genes, helix, labryinth
crawled out, crawled back again up the spiral to source –
we are pooled from the same saltwater
that passes through our bodies on its way to the sky.

The call, it came from my lips somehow:
“You are ALL my ancestors!”

From the ocean-salty blood,
the dirt of  bones
a voice responded:
“Oh thank God. We have so much love to give you.”

The skies opened up,
the ancestors poured love on me
blood unto my body,
unto the earth,
into the roots that sustain
